Greetings beloved in Christ. Early last year, our presiding Bishop Michael Curry, expressed his earnest desire to visit us here in the Episcopal Church of Colorado. Most especially, he wanted to go and visit with St. George’s in Leadville and witness their powerful ministry. As many of you know, he was originally scheduled to visit us in October, but due to a health crisis, he shifted that visitation to March. I’ve been recently made aware that he is going to be unable to visit with us because of ongoing health challenges.

Bishop Michael Curry was my diocesan bishop for a great many years. In fact, at a time in my life when I was ready to leave church ministry all together, he gently and persistently reminded me that the brokenness of church was not its essence. He reminded me that the racism, the misogyny, the homophobia that I experienced and railed against was not the essence of a loving savior, and that I was still in fact called to witness to that loving savior.

Bishop Michael Curry was an amazing bishop and an even more amazing presiding bishop, and it is my earnest desire that he healthy, that he finish his term as our presiding bishop and go on to enjoy retirement, enjoy his family, his children, his grandchildren. So while I am deeply disappointed that he will not be with us, I know that it is the right choice. I ask that you continue to pray for him and for his family, for his health and his wellbeing, as well as giving thanks for his faithful service. Blessings.
