Development & Stewardship

The role of Development and Stewardship is to assist all areas of The Episcopal Church in Colorado in increasing its collective competency and capacity to raise the funds needed to support and expand the mission of the Church. We have four core areas of focus:

1.  Providing training and resources for annual parish stewardship efforts
2.  Advising and supporting congregations in capital fundraising projects
3.  Offering giving opportunities for diocesan initiatives and needs
4.  Identifying and securing grants to support specific mission projects.

What Does Stewardship Mean to Us?

Stewardship is about being grateful, responsible stewards of the gifts we receive from God. The tradition of giving back to God and to the church comes from the Biblical practice of “tithing,” which means to give back a tenth of our earnings to God (Numbers 18:26). However, the Episcopal Church sees stewardship as more than simply contributing money to the church; it’s also about contributing time and talents, and volunteering for ministry and mission. It’s about reaching out to build relationships from a perspective of abundance instead of scarcity.

Training and Resources

Our goal is to equip congregations to encourage a culture of giving that allows them to fulfill their mission and beyond. Part of this is knowing how to effectively implement regular stewardship campaigns. We have begun to add resources to our Stewardship page and invite you to contribute resources you would like to share with other congregations.

Capital Campaigns

Capital campaigns require a significant investment of time and energy for congregations. We are here to consult with you about your needs and developing a process for reaching your goal.

Just beginning to consider a capital campaign? We have begun adding best practices and resources to our Capital Campaign page. Have your church led a successful capital campaign? Please share your story with us so we can add it to our cumulative experience and better support others.

Stewardship Opportunities within The Episcopal Church in Colorado

How do we channel the treasures we possess (our time, our talents, our money) into acts of universal love, making the care of creation and each other the business of our lives? The Development and Stewardship team provides regular giving opportunities that benefit ministries integral to the mission of our Church.

Grant Opportunities

Grants allow us to provide additional funding for targeted efforts within the Church. We have begun the work of researching grants that have the potential for benefitting our work together across the state.
