Greetings, beloved in Christ. This coming Sunday is Palm Sunday. Palm Sunday marks the end of our Lent and observance, and initiates the beginning of Holy Week. Holy Week is an invitation for each of us to walk with Jesus the way of the cross. Holy Week bids us, walk with Jesus and experience betrayal and arrest and trial and sentencing and, finally, execution. It bids us to see Jesus standing and proclaiming love, even to his crucifixion and death.

For many of us, it is tempting to rush to Easter, but the reality of our story is we cannot really understand and embrace the miracle of Easter without having known the trauma of Monday, Thursday, and Good Friday, we cannot fully appreciate the call to love that has been poured into us by the Spirit because of Christ’s life and witness, and His death.

I invite you, find a way to experience Holy Week. I invite you to experience the service of Shadows of Tenebrae, if there is a congregation near you offering it. I invite you to experience Monday, Thursday and having a stranger wash your feet. I invite you to experience the desolation of Good Friday so that you might relish the gift of resurrection and the joy of Easter. Blessings.
