In view of the notable Population Shifts in our demographics and the present Social Realities we live today, and in order to live more Intentionally and Faithfully into what God Calls Us, as the “Church Becoming,” as the “Beloved Community,” we must strive for a more authentically Multiethnic, Multicultural Church that shows our real Diversity and Inclusion.
This struggle for real diversity and inclusion is both a Challenge and an Opportunity for the Church, in all its expressions: Congregation (Parish or Mission), Region/Conference, Diocese/Synod and Wider Church.
In Faith and with Integrity, we must go deeper in seeking to Form and Equip Congregations, so they more broadly reflect “Who We Are,” “who we have been,” and “Who We Are Yet Becoming.”
The main purpose and mission of the “Multicultural Ministries” & “Multicultural Witness” of The Episcopal Church in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain Synod, ELCA, is to Fully Reflect the Richness and Unity of the Body of Christ by Welcoming and Embracing Each Person in their wholeness [questions, complexities, ethnicity, culture and all], and by Assisting Congregations and Communities to become More Culturally Diverse and Truly Inclusive by engaging in Cross-Cultural and Racial Equity Learning.
One of our main goals is to create a full partnership and participation with each ethnic specific community [African Descent, Native American Descent, Asian Descent, Arab Descent and Latino Descent] in developing a mission strategy unique to their needs and aspirations and incorporating them at every level of our life together.
The Episcopal Church in Colorado is working in Partnership with the Rocky Mountain Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in developing this “Multicultural Ministries” and “Multicultural Witness” through our shared “Missioner for Multicultural Ministries” for the Episcopal Church in Colorado and “Minister for Multicultural Witness” for the Rocky Mountain Synod, ELCA, the Reverend Quirino Cornejo (QC).
