Hello, beloved in Christ. I hope that you are well on this beautiful summer day. I hope that you have had time to rest and relax. I am back from my vacation and it was a wonderful, restful time. I did a whole lot of nothing, reading and trying to learn bass guitar. And I will warn you ahead of time, I am really bad at bass right now, but my lessons are coming along.

I know that many of you have heard about the devastating wildfires in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii. I’m sure you’ve heard about the death toll and perhaps you’ve even heard about the destruction of Holy Innocence Episcopal Church. We here in the Episcopal Church are no stranger to the devastation of wildfires. We are still recovering here from the Marshall Fire, and we know that it takes a long time and so much effort to rebuild after such a devastating event.

I ask for your prayers for the people of Lahaina, for the people of Maui. I ask your prayers for the Episcopal Church of Hawaii and all of the work that they are going to have to do to help rebuild people’s lives and their community. And I ask if you are able to please contribute a gift to the rebuilding. We know that these things take a long time and they take a lot of resources. And so, I’m going to include in this a link where you can give to help with the cost and the expenses of caring for all of those who have been displaced by wildfires. We in Colorado have been fairly lucky this season, and I pray that luck holds. And I hope that you have a wonderful and blessed rest of your summer.
