Clergy Emergency League

Clergy are invited to join the Colorado Chapter of the Clergy Emergency League (CEL). CEL is a grassroots network of clergy speaking with a unified voice against the abuses of power at the federal, state, and local levels. The network provides support, accountability, resources, and networking for clergy to prophetically minister in their congregations and the public square in this time of political upheaval, social unrest, and partisan division. The Colorado Chapter will be an ecumenical space for clergy in our state to strategize and mobilize on the local level, with a focus on planning for post-election scenarios in cooperation with coalition partners.

The Colorado Chapter of the Clergy Emergency League will:
  • Plan for post-election scenarios
  • Resist abuses of power at the federal, state, and local levels
  • Collaborate, support, and network with Colorado clergy across denominations
  • Prophetically preach and minister to our congregations
  • Strategize and mobilize in our communities
  • Envision our role in the Beloved Community

CEL offers many opportunities to learn about faithful and strategic resistance of authoritarianism. The Rev. Lauren Grubaugh offered a recent class on Civil Resistance: An Introduction to an Ancient and Modern Liberation Practice (the video is available on the CEL Facebook page). Next week, the Rev. Dr. Lisa Cressman will be in conversation with CEL co-founder the Rev. Dr. Leah Schade about preaching in the midst of this election season.
