Greetings, beloved in Christ. I hope that you are well on this day. I know that we are in the thick of summer, and I pray that you have found some respite from the sweltering heat that we have been enduring in Colorado. I suspect that it might be hard for you to think about fall, but here in the Office of the Bishop, we are already thinking and planning for fall, especially for our annual diocesan convention in October.
In a few short weeks, on August 29th, we will be hosting our regional convocations. Our convocations are the places where we nominate and select leaders from all of our regions who will help us do the work of being the Episcopal Church in Colorado. Convocations are open to all members of the region, and I pray that you will take part. I will be presenting the work that we have been doing together as a diocese and talking about what our future holds. We are planning for speakers and for exhibitors, for our youth presence, for all of the things that go into making our diocesan convention a testament to what we and the Episcopal Church in Colorado have been called to.
My dear friend, the Right Reverend Bonnie Perry, says all the work that we do at our conventions, our annual conventions, the Episcopal church’s general conventions, all that business that we do is really just another way for us to love one another. And that is the spirit that I hope will pervade our convocations, that will pervade our convention.
Stay tuned to our website and to our diocese and digest for more information about our convention theme, our guest speakers. And I hope that you will pray for all of those preparations, for all of those delegates who are elected from their congregations to represent the best of those congregations for the whole church. And pray for me, your bishop. It is a lot of work to put together, a convention. So pray for me and pray for my staff and know that you are all in my prayers. Blessings.
