Greetings, Beloved in Christ. I hope that you are well this day. Today’s video comes from Durango, where I am on the last part of my tour of the Western Slope this summer. But I wanted to express my own sadness over the death of Dolly Parton. I became a Dolly Parton fan early on. I loved that she defied expectations of how women should be and how women should act and how women should look. I was a fan of hers because she supported black country music star, Charley Pride, even when it cost her concert dates and recording contracts. I admired her into my adulthood as she gave of her resources to help children learn to read, to provide scholarships for underprivileged youth, to make her life and witness a testament that we do best when we help one another.
I grieved her passing, but I am grateful for the example she set for me and for lots of people in this world that there is abundance and that abundance can be shared and that everyone deserves an opportunity to succeed. I hope at some point in my life I can model the kind of sincerity and generosity that she modeled for me. Blessings.
