Greetings, beloved in Christ, I hope that you’re well on this day. You may have heard about the catastrophic flooding that is affecting the southwest corner of Colorado and Navajo land. You may have seen the awful images on social media and news networks. And so my message today is an appeal. First, it is an appeal for your prayers. Please pray for all of those who are being affected by this flooding. Pray for them as they struggle for power, for clean water, and pray especially for the cleanup efforts that are going to have to take place afterwards.
I also appeal to you for your gift, your financial donation to help in the relief effort. In the Episcopal Church in Colorado, we are partnered with Episcopal Relief and Development, and your gifts make such a difference. You can make a gift to the community in Pagosa Springs through our church, St. Patrick’s there, the community at St. Patrick’s is partnering with other church congregations to help in the relief effort, and a link to donate to them will be at the end of this message. You can also donate a gift to the office of the Bishop. Please market relief efforts, flood relief efforts, and it will be earmarked to help communities recover from this disaster. We are the body of Christ when we join together in helping support those who are struggling and who are suffering. And so, I thank you in advance for your generous gifts, and know that we will be working to help these communities on the long journey of recovery. Blessings.
