Greetings, beloved in Christ. September 15th marks the beginning of Hispanic Heritage month. It is a month of celebrating the contributions of Spanish-speaking Americans to our culture, and those contributions have come in the form of understanding who we are as a nation, in the form of amazing food and art and literature.

As an avid reader, I want to commend to you some of my favorite Hispanic authors, Isabel Allende and Sandra Cisneros, who write beautiful lyrical novels. I also want to commend to you some of my favorite theologians, Gustavo Gutiรฉrrez and Ada Maria Isasi-Diaz. These folks have really shaped my understanding of how we are siblings in Christ together. They have helped me see how the cultural contributions of Hispanic Americans make us better; make us better as a nation, make us better as a church.

I invite you to find a way to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, to learn more about the authors and the contributions of artists, to partake of the amazing food that we have been graced with as a nation, because it is in the multiplicity of our cultures as they come together, as they interact with one another, that we get a taste of the Kingdom of God.

Blessings.
