The Reverend Gay Clark Jennings

Gay Jennings was born and raised in Syracuse, New York and has lived in the greater Cleveland, Ohio area for more than forty years. She is a graduate of Colgate University and the Episcopal Divinity School. She was ordained a deacon in 1978 and a priest in 1979 in the Diocese of Central New York. She lives in Sagamore Hills, Ohio (outside Cleveland) with her husband, Albert, also an Episcopal priest. She loves to read, travel, attend music festivals, and was a ski patroller for more than twenty years. Yes, there are ski areas in Ohio!

Gay served as the president of the House of Deputies of the Episcopal Church from 2012 to 2022. Previous ministry experience includes associate director of CREDO, canon to the ordinary, and parish ministry. She now devotes her time to consulting with bishops, leaders, and dioceses as they seek discern mission strategy and leadership opportunities.

Gay facilitated Mission Leadership Reviews in Colorado in 2022 and 2024 and is glad to return to facilitate a diocesan discernment process listening for God’s invitation for the diocese’s next season of witness, ministry, and service. Bishop Lucas is committed to a discernment process that will help shape the diocese’s ministry and witness for the next five to seven years, grounded in the call to proclaim the Gospel, form disciples, serve those in need, and bear witness to the reconciling love of Jesus Christ.
