Every Tuesday night at 6pm, at 126 West 2nd Ave, Denver CO, St. Clare’s Supper serves as many as 100-125 guests a nutritious, hot meal.
While affiliated with The Episcopal Church, St Clare’s Supper is a non-denominational organization, open to everyone and has become an important community activity.
We serve thousands of meals per year, host dozens of personal prayers, witness hundreds of smiles, and feel the warmth from thousands of deserving hearts!
This ministry has evolved over the past 20 years. In the fall of 2009, the ministry incorporated as a 503(c)(3) charity under the auspices of the Diocese of Colorado. Many parishes in Colorado support the ministry financially. Over 15 parishes supply volunteers who generally come as a parish group on an assigned Tuesday.
We count on the help of these volunteers from the Episcopal churches in our diocese. Some shop and cook, some serve the meal and others do the dishes and clean up. Also provided is a clothing room where guests can select the clothes and toiletries that they need. The clothes are donated by various churches. Does your church have a group who would like to serve?
Services, Holy Eucharist
A Eucharist Service is held at 5:00 pm, one hour before the meal is served. The service is optional and priests from the Diocese volunteer to celebrate the Eucharist.
The guests who come to this service have increased in number and faithfulness with as many as 70 – 80 people attending, some serving as lectors, crucifer, giving the chalice and acolytes.
St. Clare’s is truly an emerging church!
