Welcome to Young Adult and Campus Ministry in Colorado!
Finals Care Packages for College Students
A new College Ministry for every church in the Episcopal Church in Colorado
Traditionally, campus ministries have been confined to the college campus, and the churches involved in college-aged ministry are the churches closest to campuses. However, the vast majority of churches are connected to students, be it through familial ties, friendships, or graduated youth group members. We aspire to extend the embodiment of God’s love to these students who may not engage with traditional campus ministry or attend schools without organized ministry.
Through the Finals Care Package for College Students Ministry, our young people away at college will receive care packages during both fall and spring finals. These packages will contain fun and useful items, but the true gift is the emotional and spiritual support that knowing someone cares enough about you to send you something brings. These packages will be filled and sent by the individual churches in Colorado. Our churches will invest their time and support, and the Finals Care Package Program will match that support by subsidizing the shipping cost of each package.
Each care package is a carefully curated collection of items reflecting the thoughtfulness and care of the community. All packages will contain a set number of items and well wishes but can be expanded to include more personalized items from the individual churches, e.g. individual prayers from Daughters of the King, drawings from Sunday School kids, and words of encouragement from youth group members, cookies baked by church members. It is not just about sending generic gifts; it’s about recognizing each student as an individual with unique needs and circumstances and as a beloved sibling in Christ. Packages are sent in medium flat-rate boxes so they can be sent to students no matter what college they attend. A list of items, prices, and links on where to buy items will be available to churches- boxes can be filled for as little as $5 a box.
If you are interested in participating, please start gathering names and addresses now. Reach out to Elizabeth Cervasio, Missioner for Children, Youth, and Campus Ministry, at elizabeth@episcopalcolorado.org.

St Matt’s College Ministry- Colorado Mesa University
St Mattโs College Ministry seeks to be a Jesus-centered, Tradition-rooted presence on the campus of Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colorado. Some of the things that I find myself doing in order to createย our presence on campus are small groups, participationย with Common Groundsย a network, and fellowship of various college ministries represented on campus. During the first week of school St Mattโs participates as part of Common Grounds in the Meat The Freshmen event, helping to cook dinner and feed over 800 students.ย Each semester we host the Voices of the Christian Faith event in which weย strive to bring speakers to campus who representย the broad historic Christian faith. Eachย September we host our River Blessings andย clean up.ย Throughout theย year,ย I have also had the opportunity to get coffee with students and other college ministers helping to provide a presence on and off campus through personalย relationshipsย and interactions. Ultimately we hope to see people come to follow Jesus, find themselvesย rooted in Tradition, and seek to participate with God to inaugurateย God’s Kingdom here on earth.
