The Rt. Rev. Kym Lucas:
Greetings, beloved in Christ. In the coming days, we are going to hear the story that is foundational to our faith. We are going to hear the story of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem as people strew palms in His way and called out, “Hosanna.” We’re going to hear the story of how Jesus washed His disciples’ feet and commanded them to do the same. You’re going to hear the story of Jesus’s arrest and His abandonment by His disciples. We’ll hear the story of Jesus carrying across to Golgotha, the story of His death, and the story of our Easter Day, the story of resurrection in an empty tomb.
We hear these stories every year, and we are called every year to hear them anew, to see where our story in this present time is intersecting that story, to recognize that our story, the nice parts, the bad parts, the broken parts, our story is woven into God’s eternal story.
I invite you to listen anew to the story of our salvation. Listen anew to hear God’s abundant love for us. Listen anew to the stories that we know by heart, but let them sink deeply into us, that we might be renewed to live the grace of that story for yet another year. Blessings.
