Greetings, beloved in Christ, from beautiful Camp McDowell and the Diocese of Alabama. I have been here for the past week for our Spring House of Bishops Gathering. During our gathering, we did a lot of praying and a lot of discerning about who we are called to be in this time, how we are called to serve. We recognize that we are in a unique position in the life of our nation, and we affirmed our commitment to being the body of Christ, to sharing good news, to reiterating a narrative over and over again that contradicts that of Christian nationalism.

We also talked about the kind of culture we want to have in the house, a culture of repentance and forgiveness, a culture of grace and accountability. We recognize that in this time, we must show forth the Gospel that has been poured out into us. We must be committed to proclaiming a Jesus who loves all, to proclaiming a God whose image is in all of us, to proclaiming a way of love and peace of grace and of mercy. We recognize that it is a challenge to proclaim those things in these days, and yet we are committed to doing just that. The Episcopal Church has a witness to make, and by God’s grace, we will make it for the peace and reconciliation of our world. Blessings.
