The Rev. Bonnie Sarah Spencer is delighted to serve as a retired priest living in Denver. She has served churches in Colorado and Massachusetts and has been ordained since 1999. The last several years, Bonnie has started a spiritual direction practice. She also has been and continues to be involved in racial justice work during the last 8 years or so, including leading a Sacred Ground Small Group and co-leading a pilgrimage to Montgomery, Alabama last month.  When she’s not working, she’s reading, hanging out with her wife, Catherine, running or hiking with her dog Finn or sipping craft beer with friends.

As we work and pray together, my hope is to not lose sight of the true director that is present in Spirit. As Thomas Merton, a Trappist monk, wrote, Spiritual direction is, in reality, nothing more than a way of leading us to see and obey the real Director — the Holy Spirit hidden in the depths of our soul.

Jesse has served as a church treasurer, vestry member, Bishop’s warden, and a member of the Commission on Ministry. His spiritual journey has led him to the ministry of Spiritual Direction and with his wife, Linda, becoming Benedictine Oblates of Benet Hill Monastery in Colorado Springs. He also practiced Zen Buddhism for ten plus years. He has a lifelong love of nature and the outdoors. Linda and Jesse enjoy hiking in the beautiful Colorado mountains and share a love for spiritual pilgrimages.

Jesse has been journeying with people in the ministry of spiritual director for over a decade. He received his training from Benet Hill Monastery through their Benedictine Spiritual Formation Program (BSFP).  He is currently companioning students studying to become Spiritual Directors through their Global Spiritual Direction Program. He is also a member of Spiritual Directors International and Spiritual Directors of Colorado.
