Hello, beloved in Christ. Today’s greetings come from the southwest region of our diocese, where I’m visiting St. John’s, Ouray; St. Michael’s, Telluride; Good Samaritan, Gunnison; and All Saints in Crested Butte. Earlier this week, I had a brief conversation with my colleague, Bishop David Reed, with the Diocese of West Texas. The recent flooding in the area has been devastating, and David asks our prayers as they recover.
One congregation alone lost almost 10 people, many of them children. It will take a long time for the community to heal from this tragedy. And so Bishop David asks our prayers, and I ask those of you in the Episcopal Church of Colorado, if you are willing and able to make a donation to Episcopal Relief and Development. The people of Episcopal Relief and Development are already there in Texas, starting to help with the healing and rebuilding process, and they need our support. I ask that you continue prayers in this season. It is storm season, and our storms are becoming more frequent and more violent. I ask that you pray that we have the will to care for our creation and to care for those who are devastated by natural disaster. Blessings.
