Greetings, beloved in Christ. I hope that you are well. For me, this has been a crazy busy summer. My twins graduated from high school and I have been getting them ready to go to college. My oldest child who has been out of college and working has decided to return to law school and he starts at St. John’s University this week. We are in the process of getting my daughter back to school where she will be finishing her master’s. And in between all of that family stuff, I have spent much of the summer in the southwest region of our diocese. I’m excited about the ministry that is happening there, the partnership ministries between Gunnison and Crested Butte, between Ouray and Telluride. I’m excited about how the Episcopal Church is moving and growing. I just got back from regional confirmations at St. Patrick’s in Pagosa Springs, seeing how that community is seeking to serve in Christ’s name. And we were happy to have folks from St. Mark’s Durango, join us for that confirmation service.

I am back after a couple of weeks of vacation that I really needed, and it’s time for us to gear up for our upcoming convention. I’m excited, and you have probably heard that we are going to welcome the Rt. Rev. Michael Bruce Curry, our former presiding bishop, to come and be with us for the opening of our convention in Pueblo this year. I am really looking forward to welcoming Bishop Curry back to our diocese and hearing what he has to say to us about our continued walk with Jesus.

This week I ask for your prayers for all of those who are going back to school, for students and for teachers, for administrators, for all of those who have given themselves to the calling of shaping and forming young minds. I ask your prayers for me as the countdown to my sabbatical gets closer and closer. Right now, we are at 61 days, and there’s a lot of work to do between now and then, so I covet your prayers for me and for my family. Blessings.
