Greetings, beloved in Christ. It’s the morning after our presidential election and I am feeling all sorts of things. If you are feeling those things, I invite you to hold them, to offer them as a representation of your spirit to the Lord your God. And I offer you these words. Will you continue in the apostles teaching, breaking of bread and in the prayers? Will you persevere in resisting evil and whenever you fall into sin, repent and return to the Lord? Will you proclaim by word and example the good news of God in Christ? Will you seek and serve Christ in all persons loving your neighbor as yourself? Will you strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being?
I offer those words to you because my beloved in Christ, our task has not changed. Among the changes and chances of this world, our work is clear. We who follow Jesus have been given a task and that is being the voice of love, of justice, of mercy, of forgiveness in this world. And as hard as that may be in these coming days, that is our task. And so I encourage you, feel what you feel and live what you promised. Blessings.
