Art Theology: Making Our Ideas and Questions about God

Art Theology is a method that uses making art to think through our ideas and questions about God/divine Love/mystery.  Art theology seeks to help participants live more deeply in God’s love and to share that love with our one human family.  Many methods for doing theology are grounded in argumentation and discursive reasoning, art theology is rooted in the idea that divine love is a reality that infinitely expands our ideas of love, rather than seeks to be “right”.  It also looks to other spiritualities and faith traditions to learn more about love.
Angela Hummel is a member of St. Johns Cathedral in Denver and recently was awarded a Roanridge grant from The Episcopal Church to provide retreats, workshops, and classes rooted in Art Theology; to churches in Colorado at little to no cost.  Angela has a BA and MA in Theology, and an MFA in creative writing.  Angela is currently working towards a DMin at Iliff School of Theology where she is developing an Art Theology curriculum.  Angela has created Young Adult Ministries at the parish and diocesan level as well as created a national education program for an international humanitarian organization.  Angela was recently invited to give a TEDx talk on art theology and is a top blogger at the Wabash Foundation.
