Summer Camp FAQs

What does a typical day of camp look like?

Days at camp are filled with activity–games, challenge course, crafts, worship, reflection, shared meals, and cabin time. For more detail, check out the Sample Daily Schedule.

What should my child bring to camp?

Clothes that can get dirty! Sturdy shoes! Sunscreen and water bottles! Please see the Camp Packing List for a complete list of items to bring to camp.

Can my child bring a cell phone?

Camp is the perfect time to unplug and be present to each other and each day’s experiences. Cell phones are not permitted.

What is the child to adult ratio?

For grades 3-5, the ratio is 6:1; for grades 6-9, the ratio is 10:1.

What are the overnight accommodations like?

Campers are housed in Aster Cabin and Bluebell Cabin, 10 to a room, in bunk beds, with separate areas for boys and girls. For more information about the cabins, check out Lodging at Cathedral Ridge.

Is financial assistance available to help cover camp tuition?

We want all children and youth to have the opportunity to attend camp and to that end have created a camp scholarship fund. In providing scholarships, the diocese comes alongside the family and the family’s congregation, with each party typically paying one third of the total tuition. To apply for a camp scholarship, please fill out an Assistance Application.

When is payment due?

We ask that payment be submitted no later than 30 days prior to the start of camp:

Wizards Camp: May 15
Cathedral Camp: May 22
Cosmos Camp: June 19
Journey Camp: June 19
Family Camp: August 5

Payments may be made online at any time by returning to the registration system, or by check mailed to The Episcopal Church in Colorado, 1300 Washington St., Denver, CO 80203. Please DO NOT bring payment to camp.

Is there a cancellation fee?

If your child is unable to attend camp, please let us know as soon as possible, so we can offer the spot to another child. There is a cancellation fee of $75.

Does my child have to have a physical?

We require that all children have a physical within the 12 months preceding camp. Please download the Physician Signature Form, have your child’s doctor review and sign it, and upload it into the camp registration system. In addition, we require:

  • A copy of your child’s vaccination records
  • A copy of the front and back of your child’s insurance card
  • Physician Standing Orders for prescribed medications

These documents can be uploaded directly into the Camp Registration System. Documents are due two weeks prior to the first day of camp.

When is camp check-in?

Camp check-in is at 2 pm on the day of arrival. Please plan to arrive as close as possible to 2 pm so your child can get settled before camp activities begin. The check-in location is Sage Dining Hall.

Is there a camp store?

Cathedral Ridge has a camp store that sells t-shirts, sweatshirts, water bottles, and other Cathedral Ridge “swag,” as well as a variety of snack items. Included in camp tuition is a $5 credit toward store merchandise. Families can purchase additional store credits in increments of $10 through the camp registration system. Please do not send money to camp with your child.

How do I get to Cathedral Ridge?

Cathedral Ridge is located at 1364 CR 75 in Woodland Park, 80863. Mapping the address, however, doesn’t always yield reliable results. Pease follow the instructions below instead:
  • If arriving from the east, take I-25 to Colorado Springs and exit at Cimarron (Exit 141). Merge on to US-24 west to Woodland Park. You will pass the town of Manitou Springs and the entrance to Pikes Peak. In Woodland Park turn onto State Highway 67.
  • If traveling from the west, you will arrive in Woodland Park on US-24. Turn left onto State Highway 67.
  • Once on State Highway 67, go approximate four miles to State Forest Road 342 (on left). It is hard to see, but directly across from this sign:
  • You will see the signs below as you turn onto State Forest Road 342. Follow the dirt road approximately one mile to the Cathedral Ridge entrance.

Will I be able to contact my child during camp?

Except for emergencies, we discourage phone contact during camp. Letter-writing, however, is highly encouraged! Write your camper often at:

Cathedral Ridge
Attn: Camper Name
1364 CR 75
Woodland Park, CO 80863

Two weeks prior to the start of camp, you will receive a welcome letter that includes emergency contact numbers.

Can I send care packages?

Please do not send care packages to your child at camp.

What time is pick-up?

Families are invited to attend closing Eucharist on the day of departure. Eucharist begins at 10 am and children will be ready to depart at its close. If you are unable to attend Eucharist, please plan on picking up your child at 11 am.

What if I need to cancel?

There is a $75 fee for canceled registrations. Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel so we can release your spot to another child.
