The Bowton Trust was established under the will of Clarice C. Bowton, who died in 1977. Mrs. Bowton was a long-time member of Grace and St. Stephen’s in Colorado Springs and, for many years, was chair of the Altar Guild. A portion of Mrs. Bowton’s estate was left in trust with the direction that the Trust make grants to Grace and St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church to be used for:
Those unmarried people entering the Episcopal ministry who by reason of lack of financial means, burdensome family obligations or other financial reasons might not be able to pursue such studies. Candidates must be residents of the State of Colorado for at least five years prior to applying.
Grants will be awarded by a scholarship committee comprised of the Bishop of the Diocese of Colorado, the Senior Warden of Grace and St. Stephens and Ms. Karla Ross, the daughter of Mr. Karl Ross, executor of Mrs. Bowton’s estate.
If you, or someone you know is a qualified candidate and would like more information, please contact the Senior Warden of Grace and St. Stephen’s through the church office at 601 N. Tejon Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80903 or call 719-328-1125. Applications are due May 31, 2018.
